Old Masking Tape

Masking tape gets old in the shop and after a while it wont unroll very well. This is especially true in cold weather. As a remedy, I give a troublesome roll a 10 to 15 second zap in the microwave.

Candle Wax



Keep a candle or a block of paraffin in the shop to was wooden drawer runners, sliding machine parts - anything that rubs. The was will make things slide easily.

Excellent Polyurethane Application - FREE Woodworking Tip

Discarded pantyhose or nylon stockings make an excellent application for urethane or polyurethane finished, particularly on contoured surfaces or turnings. Just wad them up, dip the ball in the finish, and wipe it on. You get a nice, smooth, thin coat that dries fast and has few if any bubbles.
